Martial arts isn’t just for teens and adults. Starting children from as young as the age of 4 can equip them with invaluable skills that stay with them forever. From increased self-discipline and respect to improved fitness, confidence, and team skills, martial arts, such as Taekwondo, can help shape and build a child’s character from a young age.

Everest Taekwondo offers classes for children, and teens to teach them the disciplining art of Taekwondo. One of our most highlighted programs is the Tiny Tiger class that is designed for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 6.

The main objective of this class is to introduce your little one to exercise and learn in a friendly, pleasant, and structured environment while prepping them for formal martial arts training. Parents can also help out their children to make it a great bonding experience.

HOW MARTIAL ARTS CAN HELP YOUR CHILD
ENCOURAGES  FITNESS

BOOSTS SELF-CONFIDENCE

Let’s face it, the current generation of children is more inclined to stick to their smartphones or iPads than they are to actually get up and get moving. In fact, the whole concept of ‘playing outside’ has become completely reduce. Fortunately, martial arts is a great way to get your little one in the habit of being fit and active. Martial arts, such as Taekwondo, help your child work up a sweat while enjoying, making them feel more energized, fit, and more inclined towards developing healthier habits.

Self-confidence doesn’t come naturally for most people, but it can most certainly be developed over time, especially during childhood. Learning martial art means accomplishing new goals, which gives one a much-needed confidence boost. Taekwondo can help instill a sense of discipline and self-confidence in your child that they will carry over to all aspects of their life.

TEACHES THEM SELF-DEFENSE

Self-defense is an important skill that everyone must learn, including children. Learning self-defense skills at such a young age can help your little one grow into a strong, confident, and powerful individual that can take on any challenges in life.

ENHANCES FOCUS

In almost all Taekwondo classes, students are made to perform one task after another. This makes it imperative that they pay extra attention and follow directions. Given that such small kids generally have a low attention span, Taekwondo can help teach them how to focus on certain instructions. This type of clear-headed attentiveness instilled in a child at a young age carries over into other aspects of their life.

IMPROVES ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

Martial arts have a substantial positive impact on children and their academic performance. An improvement in the physical fitness of an individual has a positive impact on the brain, enhancing their ability to perform well in school. Taekwondo also helps improve the heart and lung function of a child, leading to better blood flow in the brain that enhances their cognitive abilities.

IT'S FUN!

One of the main reasons you should enroll your child in Taekwondo training is so that they can have fun! The individuality of this sport means that it is all-inclusive; no student ever has to ‘sit on the bench.’ Children love attending Taekwondo classes as they get to spend time with their peers and to equally participate in activities.
